MEET MARCY, AUTHOR OF TEACHER'S UNITED PLANET
HI! I’m Marcy, and I’m so glad you are here! I am passionate about creating interactive, engaging and FUN resources to help students develop a love of learning. I love to think of creative and effective ways for my students to learn. That’s why I create educational games and activities. Games are very effective at helping students learn. The brain is relaxed, happy and open for learning and mastering concepts. Students are learning and having fun at the same time!
My Passion is engagement. I want my students to love learning, and I want to share with other teachers. That's why I became the author of teacher's United Planet.
I am currently an elementary reading specialist trained in Orton Gillingham, but have also taught elementary and special education. I have a BS in education from Western Michigan University and an MS from Southern Illinois University as well. When I was a special education teacher, I noticed that some of my students were not motivated to learn. Learning was “too hard” and “boring.” I needed to think of ways to make it “engaging” and “fun.” Incorporating learning games changed the dynamic of my classroom.
How educational games have made an impact
Students were excited and wanted to learn the concept during instruction, so they could understand and play the game. Students were excited to come to class. While not everything I taught was turned into a game, having interactive and engaging activities helped my students start to love to learn.
My goal is to help teachers find materials that can create an engaging and happy place to teach and learn. Learning isn’t just another worksheet, but rather, it becomes an interactive activity to open the heart and mind. Check out some of the free games I’ve shared on my site as well as in my TPT store. I know you’ll find some fun and engaging games and activities your students will love too.
